Reporting on long-term projects for the front
page and City/Region sections. Wrote an investigative piece on faults
in guardianship of
Massachusetts’s elders.
Also wrote a related article profiling one woman’s struggle. The
project spurred weeks of public outcry and,
ultimately, legislative action to change the guardianship process.
Another investigation ran on the front page of the City/Region section,
which exposed Boston city officials who were routinely
ignoring an Environmental Protection Agency-enforced parking regulation,
causing unsafe pollution levels in the region.

Reporting for the City/Weekly desk, a
neighborhood news section that appears in the Sunday edition. Covered a
historic building’s fire,

Reporting on legislative events at the State
Capitol on same-day deadlines for the state newspaper. Wrote longer
stories and investigated
discrepancies and affects of new legislation. Tracked developments in transportation and women's issues.

Reporting city news, main news, small features,
interviews, art reviews and event features. Topics included prostitution
enforcement, dorm renters’ insurance, and nation-wide traveling art show.

Writing about 10 stories per semester for the
daily student newspaper at the University of Hawai‘i (circulation of
14,000), covering a
contentious Wal-Mart
protest, book and art exhibit reviews, and a Hurricane Katrina survivor
profile. Several articles were syndicated by
U-Wire, the international media source, and printed in other newspapers.
